Tinder was also used to promote deadpool, if they swiped right they were apparently told of the movies release date and encouraged to take their matches to see it. Tinder is an unconventional way of promoting a film.

Deadpool was advertised on a 3 hour long slot on 3 channels, Spike, MTV and VH1, and was promoted in the weeks leading up to the takeover. the channels even went as far as to alter their usual programing to cater to Deadpool's demographic, this included reruns of 'Golden Girls', of which Deadpool is a huge fan.
This marketing techniqe worked because it was so over the top and ridiclous like deadpool.
Many YouTube trailers and adds were created to promote the film, although most of these were used to advertise the action, many were used to advertise cancer awareness, which links with his character due to the fact that his own cancer was the reason Wade Wilson became Deadpool.
One billboard used emojis to promote the film, spelling out 'dead-poo-l', although many people read this a 'skull-poop-l', in response to this a new design was created with deadpool lying onto of the words 'skullpoopl', this shows the humor of the film because they took on the criticism in a jokey way, similar to which deadpool himself would probably react.
This billboard was used around valentines day to jokingly promote the film, the billboard makes the superhero/action/comedy seem like a romantic film. This links well with the film being released around valentines day.

On social media maybe people have likened Reynolds personality to his charter, Deadpool, which makes the advertisement seem real and not forced or sales like.
