The Color Purple

Albert learned a little too late, that celie was right. He could not keep abusing women. He grew very regretful and to make up for the horrible things he had done, he paid for Nettie and Celie's children to come home to her from Africa. Although, this would never make up for what he had done to Celie, Albert was now a changed man.
Character Analysis
Mr.____ was the man who bought Celie so that she can tend to his children. He beat Celie and mistreated her and she got used to it for now. She was separated from her sister cause Mr.___ wouldn't take her into his home. Devastated, Celie had to cope with these new changes in her life.
Albert had been raised by a man who was incredibly sexist. He treated all women very badly and beat them the majority of the time. You wouldn't expect him to treat Celie any different. He sexually and mentally abused her for many years.
Albert had a lover named Shug that Celie looked up to. Shug was confident and Celie looked for that confidence in herself. Once she told Albert she was leaving him that sence of disbelief came through him.
