Stars

Stars

Cosmic energy engines that produce heat, light, ultraviolet rays, and other forms of radiation.

Made of gas and plasma.

Plasma is a super heated state of matter, made of subatomic particles

2) C

1) Process of where two hydrogen atoms combine to form a helium atom to releasing energy

Answers

7) Big ball of gas flowing in space

Fusion

Fusion will power the star for 90% of its lifetime

If a star explode it is a supernova but if they just shed their white dwarf.

If it starts losing it's primary fuel which is hydrogen then the star burns denser elements such as helium.

Quiz

2) How long would fusion power a star for in its life time?

A) 86%

B) 92%

C) 90%

1) What is nuclear fusion?

10) What is a star denser elements?

9) What does the star do when losing its primary fuel?

In this aticle it talks about a star that went supernova, it collapsed into a neutron star. This was the heaviest they’ve ever seen. Neutron star are some of the best astronomical objects. They form under incredible pressure. You'll be able to learn a lot more about this star in the aticle.

Discussion questions

Do you think astronomer enjoy seeing the supernova? (first article)

Why do you believe that neutron star are some of the best astronomical objects? (first article)

How does a light year work? (second article)

I read this article that talks about a signal reaching earth thousands light-years away. After a few days the researchers had determined a second signal was coming from a pulsar; a neutron star emitting a continuous beam of X-rays from its magnetic poles. This star (bizarre bursting pulsar,) shouldn't exist according to conventional theory. This article has so many great information about the new type of star, here is the link to read the full article.

Do you believe in something that is many light years away? Why or why not? (second article)

How are these two article related?
