Neurologic RealPCR Panel with FeLV/FIV

  • Clinical manifestions of intracranial disease including depression, change in behavior; seizures; ataxia, circling, vestibular disease; cortical blindness; paresis and paralysis
  • Abnormalities on CSF analysis, including elevated cell count and/or elevated protein
  • Unexplained neck pain
  • Anemia
  • Thrombocytopenia, neutropenia
  • Lethargy, fever, lymphadenopathy
  • Lameness, evidence of polyarthritis
  • Proteinuria
  • Bleeding disorders resulting in epistaxis, petchia, ecchymoses
  • Uveitis, neurological signs

Specimen Requirement:

Consider testing kittens and adult cats with:

Anaplasma spp., Bartonella spp., Cytauxzoon felis, Ehrlichia spp., Feline Hemotropic Mycoplasma, FeLV and FIV RealPCR tests, FeLV antigen and FIV antibody by ELISA

  • Persistent or recurrent signs of upper respiratory disease (URD), including sneezing, oculonasal discharge, iknappetence, fever and oral ulceration
  • Persistent or recurrent conjunctivitis or more sever ocular disease
  • Chronic rhinitis/sniffles

Sample Requirement:

  • 2 mL EDTA whole blood
  • Deep pharyngeal swab and a conjunctival swab in the same tube
  • culture swab in aerobic transport media

*culture and susceptibility included if PCR tests positive

  • Nonspecific clinical signs, such as fever, lethargy, anorexia, weight loss, lymphadenopathy
  • Respiratory signs, including dyspnea, coughing, nasal mass or discharge, sneezing, epistaxis
  • Ocular signs, including uveitis, chorioretinitis, keratitis, panophthalmitis, acute blindness, exophthalmos
  • Neurological signs, including depression, seizures, ataxia, behavioral changes
  • GI signs, including large and/or small bowel diarrhea with protein-losing enteropathy
  • Musculoskeletal signs, inclduing lameness, bone pain
  • Acute, chronic or intermittent diarrhea
  • Unexplained weight loss
