Russia/USSR
- Russia had an alliance to Serbia and entered the war after Austria Hungary declared war.
During WW1 Russia was led by several powerful people. These included Nicholas II, the last Tsar of Russia, titular King of Poland, and Grand Duke of Finland. He was killed on 17 July 1918.
Six commanders also helped to lead Russia;
- Grand Duke Nicholas Nikolaevich,
- Alexander Samsonov,
- Paul von Rennenkampf,
- Nikolay Ivanov,
- Aleksei Brusilov.
United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
- The UK entered the war on the allied side after being called to action by the French.
- King George V was the Monarch of the UK
- Herbert Henry Asquith was the Prime Minister
- Winston Churchill, the UK leader during the second world war, was also working in the british government at this time.
Germany
Belgium and The Netherlands
- The Netherlands was neutral for he entire war; However, they offered asylum to Germany's leader, Kaiser Wilhelm II.
- Belgium was invaded by Germany and joined the war.
- It was led by King Albert I, who was the monarch of Belgium and Baron Charles de Broqueville, the prime minister.
- Germany entered the war when Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia. They fought for the Central Powers.
- Kaiser Wilhelm III led Germany in the Fist world war.
- Shortly after him fleeing the country, Adolf Hitler began to rise in the ranks of the German Government.
Austria - Hungary
France
- Austria Hungary started the war after declaring war on Serbia.
- Count Karl von Stürgkh was the minister president of Austria and Hungary in 1914
- Emperor Franz Joseph I ruled Austria Hungary. It was his nephew, Franz Ferdinand who was assassinated.
France entered the war on because of it's alliance with Russia. When Russia entered the war, Germany declared war on Russia and France.
- Raymond Poincare was the President of France.
- Georges Clemenceau was the Prime Minister of France.
Italy
Italy had a treaty with Germany, but declared was on Austria Hungary and fought on the allied side.
Italian leaders included;
- Victor Emmanuel III the King of Italy
- Vittorio Orlando the Prime Minister (At the end of the war)
- Luigi Cadorna
- Armando Diaz
- Luigi Amedeo
United States of America
Japan
- President Wilson wanted to stay out of the war for as long as possible, despite proposals from European US allies. He eventually entered the US into war on the allied side.
- Woodrow Wilson was the US President for all of World War One, serving from 1913 to 1921.

- US General John J Perishing.
Japan declared war on Germany and entered the war on the allied side because of their alliance with the United Kingdom.
World War One Japan was controlled by a multitude of leaders:

- Ōkuma Shigenobu, Prime Minister from April 6 1914 to October 9th 1916
- Terauchi Masatake, Prime Minister from October 91916 to September 29 1918
- Hara Takashi, Prime Minister from September 29 1918 to November 4 1921
