"The work that I do depends on Internet access. Right now, I'm working on three different things before I have to pick up my children at baseball practice."

George Ford (2014)

Wi-Fi has extended access.

The absence of wires and cables extends access to places where wires and cables cannot go or where it is too expensive for them to go

-(Digi International Inc., 2007-2008).

Jack Barry (2012)

How did Wi-Fi first started?

*The first generation of Wi-Fi products (802.11b) have a maximum data rate of 11 Mbit/s and operate in the 2.4 GHz band. They reached the market in 2000.

Wi-Fi is becoming a necessity in the lives of all humans as they use Wi-Fi to connect to networks, to be able to share files and connect to the internet.

*Now the most advanced of the 802.11 standards is 802.11n. These devices, brought to market in 2009, have a maximum connect rate of 600 Mbit/s and are able to use both 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz bands.

All Wi-Fi networks have a name and will communicate on a specific channel frequency.

The name and channel allow multiple wireless networks to be present within the same physical space.

These days, most every notebook computer and smartphone comes with Wi-Fi networking technology. (Barry 2012)

Wi-Fi hotspots can be located everywhere.

People use Wi-Fi in almost anything.
