Introduction- A boy named Carter and his sister Sadie, who are Egyptian semi-gods, have to travel around the world and the magic underworld to defeat different bosses in order to stop Apophis, the most powerful ruler in the underworld, from destroying all humans and ruling everything else.
Rising Action- Carter and Sadie are at an Egyptian museum looking for the last copy of a book that tells how to destroy Apophis and they find it. Unfortunately, Apophis gets to the book first and destroys it. They find the magician ghost who wrote the books and they try to convince him to take Carter and Sadie to the very secret place where the ghost hid the original copies. Carter, Sadie, and the ghost go on a crazy adventure to get to the far away place where the ghost hid the books and on the way they all go through some crazy battles.
After Carter and Sadie's long journey and crazy battles, they arrive at the place where Apophis's shadow lies. They use the book that they found and they destroy the shadow which means that they destroyed Apophis and stopped him from destroying the world.
Walt, one of the other semi-gods who is along with Carter and Sadie, is under a millennium-old curse that deteriorates his body and health every time he uses magic. In the Egyptian underworld, gods can 'host' humans bodies, in other words they don't have to die, the god just stays as a human. Because Walt does not want to die at age 15, a very old god and close friend of Sadie's, Anubis, 'hosts' Walt's body and he now gets to live forever.
The theme of "The Throne of Fire'' is to always live your life to the fullest and strive to get things done, even if it means losing something along the way. For example, "Physically, I was knackered. Magically, I'd used up every last bit of energy. I was afraid I might have permanently myself, as I had a smoldering feeling behind my sternum that was either my exhausted magic reservoir or heart burn." (p.385)
Carter and Sadie have destroyed Apophis's shadow and saved the world from disaster and death. Walt has his life back and is feeling better than ever, and he doesn't need to worry about getting closer to death every time he uses magic. Everything is in order and everyone gets to live a happy life.
