- Necessary to consider what makes a distinct tourist gaze, there must be certain aspects of the destination that is different from the tourist’s own
- There will be a shift from ‘old tourism’ which involved packaging and standardization to ‘new tourism’ which is segmented, flexible and customized
- Essentially gazing, is traveling and seeing scenes and landscapes which are out of the ordinary
- Tourist gaze is not singular, it is socially organized and concurrent with the trends and social norms of the times
- Gaze is constructed both by media exposure and collection of signs when traveling
