Demographics:

Cuba

• 11,167,325 inhabitants living in Cuba.

• Life expectancy is 78.5 years, the third in Latin America.

• The literacy rate is 99.8, just 0.2 Cubans are illiterate, is the fifth country in the world, first in Latin America.

• All Cubans have full and free medical coverage anywhere in the country.

• Education is fully gratutia and covers the entire country. A rural corners are private governesses are sent to each person.

• The active labor force is comprised of 4,820,000 people, with a low unemployment rate (1.9%)

Since the triumph of the Cuban Revolution (1959), Cuba's political system has been a popular democracy; ie a conventional socialist state, with a socialization (nationalization and sometimes cooperativization) of the means of production. For nearly fifty years, the country was led by Fidel Castro, first comoprimer Minister (1959) and then as President of the State Council, the highest executive body, and the Council of Ministers (1976), now in command of his hermanoRaúl Castro. The current Constitution of Cuba, renovated in 2002.25 states that Cuba is a socialist state irrevocably preventing any modification of the economic regime. The Constitution states in Article 5 that:

Cuba excels in sports such as baseball, boxing, judo, athletics and volleyball. The latter is demonstrated in recent Pan American Games in a close game that ended with victory against Brazil. Cuba is also a very good country in the javelin, taking place May 1 at the Olympic Games of 2008. In weightlifting Yohandriz Hernández achieves load 215 kg in the last Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008. Cuba managed to remain as World runner in the first World Baseball Classic in 2006, top flight competition in that sport.

Music and Dances

Among the traditional genres is Cuban son and guaguancó. In the twentieth century, other danceable rhythms became popular. Including the cha-cha, mambo, guaracha and Danzon. Today the Cuban guaracha is known worldwide by the name of salsa. It was originated in New York by the presence of immigrant musicians in Latin America. At present many of these still dance rhythms and practiced in the houses of culture. Among the most danced the conga currently, casino wheel and timba, not only in Latin America but worldwide.

The World According FactBook64 in its 2006 edition, Gross (GDP) Cuba Domestic Product totaled 45.51 billion, with real growth of 9.5%. According to the same source, GDP is divided as follows:

The active labor force is comprised of 4,820,000 people, with a low unemployment rate (1.9%); 78% of the workforce is employed by the state, which controls the means of production nacionales.La economic balance is in deficit, as exports amounted to 2.956 million dollars; while imports amounted to 9,510 million. Although the rate of employment and education so high its economy, because of its expenses, is not self-sustaining.

Cuba is an archipelago made up the largest island of the Antilles called Cuba, the Isla de la Juventud (formerly Isle of Pines), and other 4,195 cays, islets and adjacent islands. It is located in the Caribbean Sea (or Caribbean), near the coast of the United States and Mexico. Its boundaries are the north by the Straits of Florida, the east by the Windward Passage, south by the Caribbean Sea and west by the Gulf of México. It have an area of 110,860 square kilometers.
