Men and Boys

Women and Girls in Winter

Men and Boys wore breech cloth (pieces of material hanging from the waist covering in the front and back), shirts and like women and girls moccasins. The men tattooed ALL over their bodies unlike the women. The breech cloth was made out of animal hide, to be specific rabbit.

In the winter the women wore their summer clothes but added the detachable sleeves, knee high leather leggings and sometimes if needed the women and girls wore tan hide coats, hats made with rabbit fur and mittens/gloves. Most of the winter materials were made out of moose and caribou because of their warmth and they were very popular and easy animals to find.

WOODLAND CREE

Women and Girls

Men and Boys in Winter

In summer the women and girls wore tan hide leather dresses belted at the waist with detachable sleeves and animal hide moccasins. The Woodland Cree people also tattooed their bodies but the women only tattooed two simple line on either side of their face. The dresses were made out of mainly moose, buffalo calf and elk as well as the moccasins.

In winter the men and boys wore their summer clothes but added thigh high leather leggings, and undershirts over their shirts. If needed the men and boys also wore coats, hats and mittens/gloves. They also made their clothes out of moose and caribou like the women and girls. The leggings were also made out of elk.
