Wasting food is inevitable

The reasons for school food leftovers:

  • Students do not like the food
  • Students take more food than they can eat.
  • Cooks make too much food.
  • Most of the food is not made at school and they buy that in. They use too much ready-made food .
  • Habits from home

Used sources

  • You will never know how much you can eat, which leads to leftovers
  • Everything can not be recycled

  • Food waste is leftover food, which we do not want to eat, or which would not be healthy to eat.
  • Food waste has different forms: aged food, rotten food, or simply food we have had enough of.

  • Leftovers are thrown into the compost pile, our dogs or other animals eat them.

There are ways to lessen the amount of food going to waste, for example:

  • Buying less food at a time
  • Having smaller meals more often
  • Preserving food for later meals

Different ways to recycle

Food is recycled in the following ways:

  • Taken to wild animals to feed them
  • Given to farmhands' herd
  • Left to decompose, to get fertilizer
  • shops give `best over`food to so-called food banks helping people in need.

Favourite food at our school

  • Pancakes
  • Meatball soup
  • Kissel with whipped cream
