- Dehydrogenation of Ethylbenzene
- Propylene Oxide/Styrene Monomer (POSM) from Ethylbenzene
- From benzene and ethane
- From toluene and methanol
- Bio-production using sugars
- The only viables options are 1 and 2
- 3 or 4 are still in research
- 5 is very small production rates per plant which makes it undesirable – not viable
- Styrene is only a by-product from 2 and therefore was discarded
- 1 is the most widely implemented method worldwide – producing EB as well
