Importance of Hajj

Hajj

Performing Hajj is one of the best deeds that pleases Allah !!

Once the companions asked the prophet what the best deed was, and he said: "Belief in Allah and His Messenger." Then he was asked: "what else?" He said, "Striving and struggling for the sake of Allah" Then he was asked: "what else?" He said, "Performing Hajj, which is free from vice - accepted and complete." (Bukhari and Muslim)

What is hajj?

Hajj is defined as visiting a particular place while in the state of pilgrim sanctity (ihram) in its appointed months, namely shawwal, dhul qa'ada, and the first ten days of dhul hijjah.

Conditions for Hajj

1. Muslim. Non-Muslims are, first. Hajj is a religious duty that must be accompanied by the correct belief in order for it to be accepted by Allah.

2. sanity and puberty. A Muslim has to have reached puberty and be of sound mind for his or her Hajj to become a duty.

3. ability based on the following Quranic verse:

And, pilgrimage to the House is duty on mankind to Allah for those who can find a way there. [Noble Quran 3:97]

Similar statements of the Prophet (peace be upon him) define ability as being sufficient provisions and transportation. Hence, a Muslim has to be economically able to make the trip. If he has to borrow the money to make the journey, Hajj is not compulsory on him.

4.Mahram, concerns women only and could be included under the condition of ability. Since the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade women from traveling for a distance requiring more than twenty-four hours unaccompanied by a male relative whom she can not marry (Mahram),women are not obliged to make Hajj unless they have a Mahram to accompany them. ‘Umrah."

Virtues

1. Muhammad (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon ) said "Whoever performs Hajj and does not commit any obscenity and wrongdoing, he, or she, will come out as the day he, or she, was born - pure and sinless." [Agreed upon, Bukhari and Muslim]

2. The Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said "A Mabroor Hajj - complete and accepted - has no reward for it but Jannah." (Bukhari and Muslim)

3.Muhammad (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said "Those who are performing Hajj or Umrah are the guests of Allah. If they ask Him something He answers them and if they ask him forgiveness He forgives them."

4.He who leaves for Hajj is in the state of a pilgrim till he/she returns home, and therefore remains a guest of Allah all along his Hajj journey.

The Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said "When you meet anyone who has performed Hajj, greet him, shake hands with him, and beseech him to pray for the forgiveness of your sins before he reaches his home, because he is in the state that decision of forgiveness has been taken for him." (Musnad Ahmed)

Stand the Night in prayer!

Seeking Allah’s forgiveness and humbling ourselves in front of Him in supplication and prayers during the latter part of the night is an act of worship that is very beloved to Allah .

Allah Almighty calls out to His servants in the latter part of the night: “Is there anyone to invoke Me, so that I may respond to his invocation? Is there anyone to ask Me, so that I may grant him his request? Is there anyone seeking My forgiveness, so that I may forgive him?” (Bukhaari, Muslim)

Perform Dhikr and Takbeer

The Prophet said: “There are no days on which good deeds are greater or more beloved to Allah than on these ten days, so recite much Tahleel (saying Laa ilaaha ill-Allah), Takbeer (saying Allahu Akbar) and Tahmeed (saying Alhamdu Lillaah).” (Ahmad -Saheeh)

1) To use perfume.

2) To wear sewn clothes. (men)

3) To cover the head or face.

4) To remove hair from the body.

5) To clip the nails.

6) To kill or remove lice from ones body.

7) To have sexual intercourse with wife.

8) To hunt game.

9) To hunt or interfere with animals in the haram.

10)To uproot the trees or grass of the haram.

11) Omission of any wajib act of hajj.

Attend Eid Prayer!

Fast all nine days and especially on the ‘Day of Arafah’

The Prophet said: “Anyone who fasts for one day for Allah’s pleasure, Allah will keep his face away from the (Hell) fire for (a distance covered by a journey of) seventy years.” (Bukhari, Muslim)

The Prophet used to fast on the ninth day of Dhul-Hijja and he said: “Fasting the Day of ‘Arafah (ninth Dhul-Hijja) is an expiation for (all the sins of) the previous year and expiation for (all the sins of) the coming year.” (Muslim)

Attending Eid prayers is from the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet . We should be keen on practicing this Sunnah and performing it according to the teachings of our Prophet . Eid is a time of joy and happiness and we should be inclusive of all of our brothers and sisters who may not be as fortunate to have enough to enjoy this blessed occasion.

Ibn Umar said: “The Prophet lived in Madeenah for ten years and every year he slaughtered an animal.” (Ahmad-Saheeh by al-Albaani)
