Anna's Relationship with Anna Dalassena.

Anna is taught the arts of diplomacy, economy, war and how to rule the empire successfully by her grandmother. Anna discovers that her grandmother is manipulative and cruel. She also learns how to beat an opponent by picturing a chess game inside of her head.

John

Anna has a hatred for her brother the first time she sees him. She thinks that he looks like a monkey. As they both grow older, that hatred increases into an attempted murder on Anna's part.

Like When Her Father would Secretly Smile at Her

And when Sohia came with Her Family to the Covenant To Visit Anna

Anna of Byzantium

Anna grows up knowing that one day she will rule the Byzantine Empire, being her father's heir to the throne. All seems going to plan until her dreams and hopes are bestowed by her newborn brother, deemed as the proper heir by others. Feeling betrayed, Anna is anxious to get back what is rightfully hers.

Childhood

And Then When They Returned Her Writings to Her

Anna is taught by Simon, a teacher that treats Anna like his own child. Anna is the oldest of her two siblings, Maria and then later John. Anna barely ever sees her father, who is often in battle or on a campaign.
