Planned - having arranged the parts
Happen- to occur by chance
Stance- a view or attitude
Step 1: Clarify Ideas
Step 2: Remove the obstacles
Step 3: Expect the Unexpected
Step 4: Take Action
- 1995: World Trade Organization is created: employment & job opportunities increase
- 1996: Olympics in Atlanta: $1 billion of construction projects (unplanned job opportunities)
- 1997: (Fun Fact) 1st Harry Potter book is published
- 1998: Google is created: "quick fix" mentality; information is available in seconds like never before
- 1999: Planned Happenstance Theory: unpredictable social and environmental factors & chance events influence clients lives
John Krumboltz was always open to new experiences but his inability to choose a career frustrated him and led him into a lifetime of studying about career counseling. During his time playing tennis in college, his coach persuaded him to become a Psychology major and that led him on the path to career counseling.
