to be a full fledged librarian you need to to have a masters in library science. you spend two years learning the cataloging systems, how to find things fast, how to know between books for different age groups and how how to correctly save bills for the future generation. After all that you get to work at a real library where they essentially teach you everything from scratch. (in the form of courses)
THANK YOU!

(there are no colleges that have to do with being a librarian. Apparently you could be anything, a graphic designer, at artist, a doctor, and then take the coarse to a librarian later on)
one new thing i learned
I didn't know there weren't colleges for librarians and also i didn't know that you needed a masters in library science either
do you see yourself doing this in 15 years?
i don't see myself doing this job/career in 15 years just because i want to explore new things when i grow up and not only stick to one certain thing
Why did you choose this job or Career:
I chose to become a librarian because i began working in a library at a young age. I learned a lot About the career and realized this was the perfect career for me (a children's librarian (*what i want to be!*))
what do you do on a typical day:
in a typical day i assist teachers and students locate their next adventure or character to love. Approximately two classes visit per day (50 students). I lead or plan for a children's program. Including toddler programs for the preschoolers in our community (dance, party, story time, finger painting etc.). On a daily basis I'm responsible for purchasing new materials and replacing lost/damaged materials.
What education and/or training did you need for this job/career:
A masters degree in library information+science
how long have you been working in this job/career:
For approximately 20 years
What do you like best about your job/career:
I love planning the children's programs+ I love turning he children into "Readers"
What do you like least about your job/career:
What kind of math do you use in your career?:
graphs:simple equations
There's never enough time in a day. In order to be successful you have to stay educated. Learning new databases, technology, and meeting popular demands is not easy. Maintaining knowledge of sports+entertainment of the communities wants is a constant battle
Do you need to know Percentage?:
what advice would you give me right now knowing that i am interested in a job/career like yours:
I think that you do need to know percentage to know how many people come to an event you have ( maybe divided males, females, kids, tween ,teens because some events are all ages)
It's not an easy job, but it's extremely rewarding. I <3 my career choice!
Do you need to know Algebra?:
i don't really think i need to know a lot of math for my career, but think i would need to know how to use graphs and simple equations.
Do Budgets?:
Definitely (at least at my library). our library recently invested in a 3D printer and (insert if you remember it) and they also use money to get supplies for crafts and i pretty sure with so many expenses ANY library would have to budget on whatever they need to get
Other....:Graphs:
I think that they might use graphs to display their data (see how many take a certain book every week; to see how many of a certain group of people came to an event; to show the percentages; etc.)
Organize+ manage collections of books, newspapers, magazines, electronic documents, journals and other data resources.--Help people find the info they need from within the library--Help organize events-- work in a big range of places from public libraries to government agencies.
IT IS ALSO CALLED:
Youth Services Librarian
Broadcast Music Librarian
Bookmobile Librarian
WHAT THEY DO:
Contribute in architectural ideas that have to do with the building-- arrange and engage in events for fundraisers-- develop program to help library users (ex: the website)-- provides relations for the library (ex: borrowing books from other libraries)+ events and activities
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
WAGES:
Hourly: $9.74- $29.22
