When were pigs introduced to the United States?
In 2009 some pigs were infected with swine flu (H1N1) and the disease was easily passed on through humans causing the Swine Flu outbreak.
Incendiary Pigs were used as interesting weapons in 240 B.C. Romans would cover the pigs in tar and a flammable substance and when lured close enough to the advancing or defending army the pig would be lit on fire in an attempt to confuse and distract the opposite force so that they could harass and scare their enemy when they’re off guard.
Pigs were first introduced in the 1500’s to what is now the southeastern U.S.

In the 1990s, it was determined that They are perhaps the smartest, cleanest domestic animals.A sign of their cleverness came from experiments in the 1990s. Pigs were trained to move a cursor on a video screen with their snouts and used the cursor to distinguish between scribbles they knew and those they were seeing for the first time. They learned the task as quickly as chimpanzees.
When did humans start eating pigs?
During the 1960s pigs were used in reasearch of toxicology, pharmacology, and aging. Pigs were also a source for transplants. In addition,certain tissues are created from pig intestine . These tissues could be used in wound closure as well as in many other ways. It is easily available and less expensive and ethically problematic cadaver skin.
Domestication of Pigs
Pigs were domesticated 5,000-9,000 years ago in Western Asia. At first, Pigs were used mainly as garbage disposal ,but eventually people started eating their meat.
In approximately 50 AD ,Christians were using pigs for their meat. But at the time many other religions found pigs to be dirty and gross.

How did pigs become wild?
Teacup Pigs
After English Pig breeder Chris Murray devoted 9 years of his life and 24 generations of pigs. He create a smaller pig that could be kept as a pet. This pig was completes in the early 1980s.
In the 1500s pigs were introduced to the U.S. by Spanish Explorer, Hernando DeSoto. In the centuries following European exploration and colonization of the eastern U.S., free-range livestock management practices and escapes from enclosures resulted in the establishment of wild pig populations and promoted their spread.
