Consumers
**Consumers are Heterotrophs meaning they DO NOT make their own food like plants.
Herbivores = consumer that eats only plants.
- grasshopper, moose
Carnivore = eats other animals or meat
- wolf, snake or badger
Scavengers = specialized consumer that feeds on dead organisms.
- vultures
Omnivore = eats both plants and animals
- Hedgehog, mouse
How do organisms get energy?
PRODUCER (Autotroph) = Use energy to make own food
- grass and trees
Decomposer = gets energy by breaking down the remains of other organisms.
- mushrooms and some bacteria

- Food Chains = path of energy transfer from producers to consumers.

- Factors that limit an ecosystem are space, water, and food.
How are all living things connected?
Ecology = The study of how organisms interact with each other.
- Biotic Factor = Living parts of environment
