Since the Colt 1911 was the first magazine fed pistol invented, it was a very important part of the evolution of the gun. It allowed you to store much more ammo in the clip, and you could fire more RPM(Rounds per minute) due to the blow-back technology, which allowed the pistol to reload itself using its recoil from the previous shot. The Colt 1911 was invented by John Browning in 1911.

This handgun was invented by Allen & Thurber and was one of the most common American handgun designs. It was invented in 1830, and was popular until up to the civil war. It had a manual loading system, which was much slower then later models.
