Who was Genghis Khan?

The Mongol Conquest was throughout Europe and Asia during the 13th century. The first military target was Xiaxia of Northwestern China. The Mongols launched three massive invasions in 1205, 1207, and 1209. Xiaxia was forced to pay tributes and sue for peace, because they were helpless. Attacks were made on the Jin dynasty in 1211. Four years later, the Mongols captured Jin, Zhongdu (Beijing). Most areas near the Yellow River fell under Mongolian control. Xiaxia was defeated in 1227. Genghis Khan's third son defeated the Jin Dynasty years later after Genghis Khan's death.

Genghis Khan (1162-1227) was the founder of the Mongol Empire, which became the largest empire in the world. He ruled over 1 million people. Before he was 10, his father was poisoned by an enemy clan. The clan refused to acknowledge Genghis's new head position. He ended up killing his half-brother so his leadership position would be confirmed. By age 20, he built an army with intent to rule Northeast Asia. He is known for his invincible army.
