JCB facts

1970's

summery of JCB

  • 3rd largest manufacturer of construction equipment
  • Founded in 1945
  • now produces over 300 products from 18 factories around the world from America to India.

1970's started with the unavailing of the JCB factory in Whitemarsh, Baltimore America. This decade is also when Joseph retired and left his son Anthony Bamford in charge. Anthony Bamfords first move as owner was to get into the Indian market where they were extremely successful.

The worldwide growth of JCB over its 68 years from a rented garage in Uttoxeter to a global stature is amazing. This shows the quality of its workers and staff and determination to always innovate and improve.

In the back of a rented garage in Uttoxeter JCB began its life as a company.

2000

1950

The start of 2000 revealed a massive order of 150 4CXMs to the British Army. to celebrate JCB's 60th anniversary they built the diesel max. using two 444 engines the car reached 317.021mph. in 2008 heavy products opened with the cost of £43million.

After a very successful start JCB moved to an old cheese factory were it still stands now. 1952 was the year the backhoe loader was born. The 1950's was also when JCB's machines were painted the famous yellow colour that they are today.
