Unemployment by race

Unemployment in Canada and Denmark.

Canada:

- Arab (14,2%)

- Black (12,9%)

-South- Asian (10,2%)

- Chinese (8,3%)

- Aboriginal (14,8%)

Different groups who are unemployed

Then there are some unemployed people who got a good education but can't get a job

Reasons:

- They need experience.

- The retirements age is high,

so a lot of the old people stay at their jobs for a long time. The retirements age is 65-67. (Both countries)

Cash benefits and employment insurance

Canada:

-EI is available for 14-45 weeks depending on the province you live in

-The government will provide 55% of your weekly wage with a maximum of 49.500 dollars per year

-If you have a child and you are 30 years old you can get around 14.203 kr. per month in cash benefits ($2578)

-If you have more than 10.000 kr. (1800 dollars), you can't get cash benefits.

-This is a big issue in Danish politics.

Some people cant work because they are sick and therefore cant work. They gets help from the state with cash benefits

Some can't get a job because of the economic crisis

- That is because the companies cant sell their products.

- There is also technological development

Unemployment under 25

Denmark:

- 10 % in 2014 (25 and under)

Canada:

- 14.23% in 2012 (age 15-24)

Unemployment in the last 10 years

Reasons:

- Good education, but no experience.

- Retirement age too high.

Canada:

- Highest in 2009, the unemployment rate was at 8,3 %

- The unemployment rate has fallen by 1,5% since then

Denmark:

- The economic crisis 2008.

- The Unemployment rate was at 6,9% in 2009.

- The economic system broke down in Denmark.

- From the year 2008-2012 unemployment decreased with 175.000 people.

- The unemployment rate has fallen by 0,9% since 2009.

- Canada was more effected than Denmark, but they recovered by more than Denmark
