The Bahamas is a group of 700 islands located on the Caribbean.
Christopher Columbus discovered the islands in 1492 on his first journey to the Americas. Europeans brought african slaves to the islands. In 1838 slavery was ended and many former slaves remained on the islands and became land owners.
The estimated population as of July 2013 is 319,031.

Anne Boonny and Mary Read dressed up like men and were more vicious then the males.
Edward Teach (Blackbeard)
Anne Bonny fell in love with Calcio Jack. One night they went out and stole a ship from the harbor and took on a life of piracy together. Bonny learned how to use weapons and became as dangerous as any male pirate. In 1720 their ship was attacked and all of the crew was captured including Anne Bonny and friend, Mary Read. They were sentenced to death. They confessed that they were both women and pregnant. They were spared from being hung. Read died in jail and Bonny disappeared.
