What is Motion?

other motion facts

–When you pluck the string of a guitar, the string vibrates—moving quickly back and forth. That is a type of motion.

–When water flows off a cliff, it creates a waterfall. This is also a type of motion.

–When you throw a football into the air, it curves up … and then down again. That is another type of motion.

Motion is the process of how you move around. Motion is the changing of position or location. Motion is Everything in the universe moves. It might only be a small amount of movement and very very slow, but movement does happen. Motion is one part of what physicists call mechanics. Over the years, scientists have discovered several rules or laws that explain motion and the causes of changes in motion. There are also special laws when you reach the speed of light or when physicists look at very small things like atoms.

1. When an object is in motion, it has to stay in motion unless an external force

2. The relationship between an object's mass m, its acceleration a, and the applied force F is F = ma. Acceleration and force are vectors acceleration vector.is applied

3. For every action there's an equal opposite reaction
