This is a presentation software online, that allows you to create presentations by editing various slides.
I used these for some analysis that I had to complete as it allowed me to post the picture with arrows and edit the text to make it specific to my needs. It is very similar to PowerPoint, but I was new to this website at the start of the production which meant I had to sign up and learn how to do things such as add and edit text, add new slides and connect them and also choose a template for the presentation. I learned how to use this website independently, without the help of others, just by navigating around the tools on the site. Something else I learned was how to import an image directly from the internet. It allowed you to search the internet, directly from the site, and import the image that way which is much easier than copy and pasting it from a separate slide.
I had to use blogger as a folder for my work. Once I completed a piece of construction, evaluation, planning or research I had to post it on blogger so it can be marked.
This was the first time I’ve ever used blogger so it was a completely new type of technology for me to use, therefore I learned a lot about this website so I was able to post all of my work. Firstly I really didn’t like it as it was difficult to understand and lay out my work. But once I got the hang of it, it was fairly simple to post everything.
I learned how to create, write and publish a new post which I had to know how to do to be able to complete the coursework.
I learned how to post part of a piece of work and save it as a draft, so I could go back to it at a later date to edit it and finish the work. This allowed me to do all the tasks, even if I started one with minimal time, as I could go back to the draft at a later date and finish it.
When completing this production, what I learned was minimal. The reason for this is because learned the majority of what I need to know about magazine production last year at GCSE, so the knowledge of how to lay out and structure each piece of the production was already with me, so I didn't need to learn all that to complete the work.
However what I did learn was about the DSLR camera I used to take my photos. I learned how to successfully use the manual focus on the camera to ensure the image focused on exactly what i wanted it to, to allow a good quality photo to be taken for the production. I also developed my understanding of the rule of thirds, and placement of photos. This allows me to produce a better quality and looking piece of work to add to the professionalism of the production.
Blogger also allowed me to structure my work in a simple and organised way, so I could find what I want, easier. This was done by setting up tabs (or labels). When I posted work I could give it a certain label, so when I looked on my blog I could click on that label and find the work that has been given that label (construction, evaluation, planning, research).
Photoshop was the only photo editing programme I used to create my magazine coursework as it is the most professional that allows me to do the most work on.
In Photoshop I learned how to use the bevel and emboss effect on text. This effect was used on my masthead to give it a shiny glow effect to allow it to stand out from the other text.
I also learned how to use the rulers and guideline tools. These tools help med get a more accurate structure as I could use them to find out where specifically I wanted to put my text and images. It helped create the professional look.
Thirdly, I learned how to add and hide multiple layers. To allow me to have one layer focused on one certain thing. Being able to hide them allowed me to focus on other parts of the production without having to erase another layer.
