The 4 Rs

Recover :

Industries can recover energy from non-reusable

waste. An example is energy recovery from landfill

gas.

Animals

Recycle :

When a thing cannot be reused, we can recycle it –

that is, reprocess it as a new object. We should buy

recyclable products.

  • Reduce:

If we reduce the amount of garbage, there will be less garbage to dump in landfills. Packaging is a serious

part of the problem. We should buy products that have no packaging , donate old clothes and goods,

recharge batteries, share books and newspapers …

Reuse :

If we can’t reduce, we can reusee. This means

repairing damaged appliances, using empty

containers, any buying durable goods (as opposed to

disposable ones)

Causes for Misuse of Natural Resources

1)Commercial interests like trading in products out of natural resources.

2) Ignorance on necessity to preserve natural resources.

3) Deliberate negligence on destruction of natural resource.

4) Entertainment / recreational / aesthetic interest.

5) Extreme population pressure.

6) Self interest of human beings over the interest to retain natural resources.

7) International trade and commitments.

8) Loop holes of provisions of law.

9) Food interest.

10) Luxuries required for man.

11) Increased industrial requirement.

12) Expectations of instantaneous returns.

CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF NATURAL RESOURSES MISUSE

Effects

  • Loss of forest area.
  • Lost of agricultural land.
  • Global Warming.
  • Erosion.
  • Pollution.
  • Approximately 40% of the world's agricultural land is seriously degraded.}
  • Tectonic or isostatic uplift in the region

Exhaustible Natural Resource:

The exhaustible natural resources are limited in nature and are liable to be degraded in quantity and quality by human activities. Examples are forests, soil, wild animals, minerals, fossil fuels etc.

Collectively referred to as biotic components

2- Two biological components

are:

1- Mention 3 components of the environment:

What is Misuse of Natural Resources?

3- What is biotic component?

Misuse of natural resources refers to excessive use, destructive use or achieving imbalance between resources either individually or in combination. Misuse of resources can also be direct or indirect. Direct misuse refers to such situations where the resource is directly destroyed or overused. But, many times, some resources are indirectly put to misuse.

Types of Natural Resources

Inexhaustible Natural Resource:

The inexhaustible natural resources are unlimited in nature, and they are not likely to be exhausted by human activities. Example are solar radiation, air, water, precipitation (rainfall, snow fall, etc.,) and atomic power.

Light

Air, water, soil, minerals, coal, petroleum, animals and plants are referred to as natural resources.

Air

8- Mention 2 causes of Misuse of Natural Resources

10- Mention the 4 R´s:

9- Mention 2 effects of Misuse of Natural Resources:

Excellent Job!!!

The physical components of the environment are :

7- What is Misuse of Natural resource?

5-What is Inexhaustible Natural Resouce?

6- What are Exaustible Natural Resource?

4- What is abiotic component?

Causes and effects of natural resources misuse

The Environment influences an organism's life in many ways. It is everything that surrounds an organism and it includes physical and biological components.

The biological components are:

Plants

Temperature

These are termed as abiotic components.
