Crayola crayons have enabled children to creatively express their drawings and opinions through using these crayons in their classrooms and at home.
Edwin was born on November 24, 1866. His mothers name was Annie Conklin and his fathers name was Joseph Binney. Edwin was born in Westchester Country, New York. He had 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Edwin resided in Florida after he moved away from his home town. Edwin married a woman named Alicia Stead and they were happily married with 2 children. Edwin died in December of 1934.
Edwin Binney was not just any man, he stood out to others because he had a love for education and for children. Crayola crayons has also made a mark in history by the invention of crayola markers, paints, and all sorts of different art supplies. Edwin wanted to make a mark in history and that is exactly what he did by inventing the crayons. Edwin traveled a lot to showcase the crayons right when they came out, he would visit schools to show the children how they could draw with them and how they were inexpensive.

My thesis statement is, "Crayola Crayons have enhanced children's ability to draw and express their artistic abilities through the invention of non-toxic wax crayons." After doing research on Edwin Binney I found out that he contributed so much to this world through his invention of the crayola crayons. All of Edwin's driving forces support my thesis statement in many ways. At first the invention of crayons were toxic and could hurt a child if they somehow ate it, but as technology got better and crayons became more popular that changed. Crayons were soon known to be non-toxic and made out of a certain kind of wax.
The first crayola crayon box was put on sale in 1903 and immediately sold out a few hours after they were first released. The colors of the first box of crayons were brown, black, blue, red, orange, purple, yellow, and green. The invention of crayons received a patent on May 26th, 1891. Edwin Binney was the main inventor of crayons with the help of C. Harold Smith.
Crayons changed the way children could express their feelings through artistic drawings. Edwins invention was a huge hit everywhere and people still use crayons to this day. They are still popular and wide known. Edwin's invention started out very small and it has progressed since 1903. Now days you can buy twist able crayola crayons which are way different then the first crayons ever sold. Binneys wife, Alice came up with the word crayons by combining two french words together.
