some considered this a branch of Catholicism and felt they could trust the religion.

Yes, however the principles have widely changed from the "apocalypse". The religion is now a baptist church that follows beliefs that are more socially acceptable.

Others truly believed the world was coming to and end just as the Bible foretells in Revelations.

Credonia Muerinde and

Joseph Kibwetere

Beliefs/Principles

They believed strictly in the Ten commandments

They had a book that told them how to conduct themselves

They believed the only way to avoid the apocalypse was to follow the Ten commandments

The apocalypse had a set date and all the followers prepared for it.

Apocalypse

After the first date came and passed the followers became angry and doubted the validity of the religion

Credonia's father believed the virgin Mary spoke to him in a dream and told him that his child would be a vessel for God and spread the word about the apocalypse. She later met Joseph who joined in her beliefs and gave her his land for their cause. He believed he had seen visions as well and together they led the cult.

They set a second date and gathered in a church to await the coming of the apocalypse. The two leaders set off an explosion (knowing there was no apocalypse to begin with) and killed all their followers in the church as a mock apocalypse. The leaders killed themselves along with their followers.
