- To honor important periods of life like birth, marriage, and death, the natives in Africa used to perform jazz dance.
- Dancers that do use props to perform jazz, use them to add emphasis to their dance, emotions or if they are telling a story through the dance, to help them show or tell the story with the help of their body language and props.
- When the black slaves did the dance, they showed their interpretation of life and many other emotions.
- Jazz dance is very graceful, energetic, sharp , and very rhythmic.

- This genre wasn’t as popular during this time compared to the 1920’s, when it was called the "Jazz Age"
- There were many illicit clubs that were opened all over the US that advertised jazz music, dance, and also contained alcohol
