The Emmaus Problem

The Communion

  • Do Catholics have an Emmaus problem? Why or why not?
  • I think In times of our life you can recognize Jesus and God, but other times it is blocked by doubt and pleasures of the world that distract us from our faith.
  • The word communion means union with and by receiving the Body of Christ we are in communion with him. We become one with Christ and one with each other. That is why it is called Communion.

Jesus' Command

  • The Command was, " Do this in memory of me." This is important because this is Jesus telling us what to do. He says that if you don't eat and drink than you will not live in everlasting life.

The Blessed Sacrifice

  • The Eucharist is a blessed Sacrifice because Jesus said, "This is my Body, This is my Blood" Jesus is the blessed Sacrifice. The Eucharist straightens our relationship with Christ
  • The Eucharist is food for the soul and that is why it is the blessed sacrifice.

The Source and Summit of Our Faith, The Eucharist

The Sacrifice

  • The Eucharist is a sacrifice because God the Father gave his only son and through him we are saved. Jesus is the Eucharist and Jesus sacrificed himself for everlasting life. That is why the Eucharist is a sacrifice.

The New Testament

What is the Eucharist

  • On the way to Jerusalem from the place of the skull, Golgotha, where Jesus was crucified and it was the third day from the crucifixion on the road to emmaus some apostles and Jesus were walking with them, but they didn't know it was Jesus. Then they sat down for a meal and Jesus broke the bread and they know it was him then.(Lk 24: 13-35)

  • The way this passage relates to the body of Christ was at the breaking of bread, Jesus did this before he died on the cross.
  • The Eucharist is what we as Catholics believe is the body of Christ.
  • The word that I would describe it is Holy, God, sacrifice, Passover, and real presence

By Ricky Jumper

  • This is what Jesus gave to us in remembrance of him.

God foretells His son

  • Abraham was told to sacrifice his son Issac on order form God. He willingly took his son to the place where he was to be sacrifices are tied Issac up when an angle of the Lord came down and ordered him to stop. The Lord had tested him and God know he was the one to lead his people. The lord had sent a ram that was caught in a thorn bush and he was to be slaughtered for the sacrifice. (Gn 22:1-19)
  • The relations to the story of Jesus was throughout the whole passage. First when Abraham was to sacrifice his only son like Jesus was God the father's only son. Then the Lamb caught in the thorn bush represents Jesus' crown of thorn. Finally the Lamb is Jesus' name, the blood of the lamb.
