The PERT for Dual Enrollment

What is the PERT Test?

PERT stands for Postsecondary Education Readiness Test.

  • The PERT is used in the state of Florida
  • The score achieved on the PERT helps determine college readiness and placement.
  • There are three sections to the test: Math, Reading, and Writing.
  • Each section has 30 questions = 90 questions total
  • The PERT is not timed, however it usually takes about 3 hours to complete.

You Cannot Fail the PERT!

You cannot fail the test. The test is designed to determine the best placement for you based on your academic preparation.

However, to be eligible to Dual Enroll, you must achieve a certain score in each section. The minimum score will depend on which college you choose to attend, so check with your college before you prepare, so you know what score you will need to achieve.

Why Choose the PERT?

How to Get a Good Score on the PERT

Take a Practice Test

To be eligible to Dual Enroll as a homeschooled student, FL state colleges require test scores from the SAT, ACT, or PERT.

  • The SAT and ACT tests cost between $38 and $54.50 per test
  • The PERT test is FREE the first time. Students may retake the test, but there is a $10 fee for each additional time.
  • SAT and ACT tests can only be scheduled at certain times of the year.
  • The PERT test can be taken at any time.

Preparation is the key to achieving a good score on the PERT.
