Everyone has the right to an effective remedy by the competent national tribunals for acts violating the fundamental rights granted him by the constitution or by law.

You should be able to ask for legal help when the rights your country grants you are not respected.

Remedy : Set right

Tribunal: a law court

In 1980, El Salvador was a country that kills innocent people. But after Mirtala Lopez's hard work, getting arrest by the government , and got into prison for 3 month. She finally convinced the government. On 1992, January 16, a peace treaty was signed. Before the artical is made, Mirtala helped 12000 Salvadorans to their home.

Article 8. Right to Remedy by Competent Tribunal

Everyone charged with a criminal offence shall have the right to be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.

While the law and the constitution may provide you with fundamental rights, this does not mean that these will always be respected in every case. If a certain right is violated, you must always be able to turn or appeal to a 'competent' court.
