New Moon
During a new
moon, there is a
spring tide. During
this phase, there
will be a spring
tide.
Waning Cresent
First and Last Quarter
The first and last quarter cause neap tides. Neap tides are when there isn't a huge difference between high and low tides.
During a waning cresent, there are normal tides.
What is the time
Difference between
Tides?
There is about a 6 hour time difference between tides.
Spring Tides occur when the
sun, Earth, and moon are
perfectly align. Spring tides
make it so high tides are extra
high, and low tides are extra low.
Neap tides occur
when the sun and
moon form a right
angle. A neap tide
makes it so there
isn't much of a
difference between
high tides, and low
tides.
First Quarter
During the first quarter
is when the neap tides
occur, so there isn't a
huge difference
between high tides
and low tides.
During a waning gibbous,
waning cresent, waxing
gibbous, and waxing cresent,
the tides are fairly normal,
with low tides, and high
tides. When I say 'normal'
I mean that the low tides
aren't extraordinarily low, and the high tides aren't freakishly high, like the spring tides. However, there is still a noticeable difference between high tides, and low tides.
A full moon makes the
high tides extra high,
and the low tides extra
low (spring tide).
