Some thoughts on how to approach
your future state workshop
Today
or maybe next week...
Consider the goal you’ve been assigned and work with your team to develop an understanding of background information related to the goal.
Using “Manage Costs” as an example goal, consider things like:
- What are the IT costs today?
- How are those costs perceived within the organization and by the business?
- What major investments should we account for in the next 3 years?
- What is the relationship between cost and value?
- Should IT ever be a profit center?
Use the remaining time to prepare for the workshop.
What methods will you use to collaborate during the workshop?
How will you present your findings?
Will you need suppplies or equipment?

Some key principles:
Be creative in how you present your team’s input (e.g. resist PowerPoint and other creativity killers). Think outside the box!
Collaborate, work as a team

Have fun!
We found out it's really hard to find a suitable "fun" picture; in fact, there will be an award for that.
And some final thoughts:
