Mendeleev's Table
Moseley's Table
Arranged the elements by atomic mass.
Arranged the elements by atomic number.
Pros:
- Lead to the reordering of several elements.
- argon and potassium
- Predicted the elements technetium and promethium (Numbers 43 and 61)
- Allowed Mendeleev to predict the discovery of new elements
- Allowed Mendeleev to point out inaccurate atomic weights being used at the time.
Cons:
- Could not predict the existence of the noble gases.
- A single position for hydrogen could not be assigned.
