The first nuns of the Holy Family of Nazareth arrived in Nowogrodek on 4 September 1929.
Nowogrodek was a small town in modern Belarus.
It was a nationally diverse town.
They ran a school and formed a community of Christ.
The nuns' organizations were torn apart, and they could not officially run schools.
They were forbidden to wear habits and were expelled from the houses they lived in.
Priests were killed and murdered right in the towns.
The sisters were begging and praying for the release of the Polish families that were captured to be killed.
After spending the night in the basement of a commissirat, they were driven to the woods, shot, and buried in a mass grave.
