- Help support families with disabled child
- Help meet child's basic needs
- Child must live in a family who income is below a prescribed threshold and must meet SSA's disability definition
- Some earned income counted against SSI income
- May lead to increased amounts of people not getting jobs
- May lead to children not making progress
