Risk of liposuction
- The biggest risk of liposuction is to choose a doctor who has had the training or experience to administer the procedure properly
- One of the other biggest risk of course is the risk of infection

History/Background of Liposuction
- Roots can be traced back as far as the 1920s, when french surgeon Charles Dujarier first introduced the concept of body contorung and fat removal.
- After a procedure performed that gave a model gangrene the topic was lost for decades.
- Then in 1974, doctors Arpad and Girogio Fisher working in Rome, Italy, developed the blunt tunneling technique from which modern liposuction evolved
- Towards the end of 1990, doctors introduced the use of ultrasound for liquifying fat so it could be removed more easily.

- Through small incisions the cannula is inserted into fatty areas between skin and muscle where it removes excess fat either using a suction pump or a large syringe.
- This results in a smother, improved body contour. the length of the procedure will with the amount of fat needing removed.

Procedure of Liposuction
- Before you can do the the procedure your candidacy must first be determined by a qualified plastic surgean.
- Best candidate is someone who is in excellent health and condition, 25 pounds of his or her ideal body weight, and has deposits of fat that have not responded to diet or exercise

People who are taking blood thinning medications
People who are allergic to idocaine
Realistic expectations
- liposuction is not a weight loss procedure and it cannot remove stretchmarks and cellulite from the skin
Can only remove small, localized concentrations of fat
- In most cases only 10 pounds or less will removed, and people with diabetes are most likely to receive less than desirable results
- Cost
Cost can be different from patient to patient
Usually cost between 2,000 to 3,500 per treatment area ( not including hospital, an anesthesia, and other expenses)
