Creating Tropical Gardens
Due to fact that the cove orientation lighting doesn't illuminate a big area, we propose that more of it can be placed around the area for safety reasons.
The unique trees in the area cannot be seen at night due to insufficient lighting hence we propose to place spotlights in front of each unique tree to let night visitors have a clearer view of the main attraction.
Overall area analysis
On a whole, the area we have chosen is unique in its own whereby the different types of trees are planted to form a roundabout with a petrified tree in the middle to draw people to walk in, lead people to walk in a circle to enjoy the area and act as a sculpture for vistors who are resting to enjoy. The way the place is designed induces motion and "forces" visitors to walk in a circle to look at the trees and also enjoy rdriftwood benches placed there.
3rd Area Analysis
Group Assignment
2nd Area Analysis
- Lush greenery with pops of colour
- Adequate spacing between plants to prevent competition
- Gaps between the trees allows the views of the Supertree Groves to be seen
- Asymmetrical planting is used to create a balance of interest.
- Shrubs of different forms but with the same function to act like a barrier to mark out the space from the resting area, circulate the viewer to a more enclosed area.
- Plants of different form and texture create sense of hierachy and interest
- Placement of plants are well thought out for each plant care requirement.
1st Area Analysis
- Lush green plants with small clusters of Ixora 'dwarf pink' to add accents of colour and to demarcate the boundary between the resting area and the plants
- Gradual change in height in proportion to create hierachy and balance
- Harmony between softscape and hardscape
- Modern twist to typical tropical garden setting created through integration of Supertrees in background.

We chose this area due to the unique trees and the strategic placing of the plants and floor tiles to induce movement.
