Treaty of Fort Laramie 1868
- White men believed they could plow through land and destroy anything in their way (Indians).
- Deconstruction of Indian tribes in west revealed white men's belief that settlement of whites in civilization was preordained.
- Peace treaty between the Sioux Indians and U.S. government
- Wanted to end wars and prevent future conflict between whites and Indians
- Government wanted to move Sioux tribe to the Black Hills, which is sacred to their tribe
