Chagatai had an effect on Uzbek and modern Uyghur. The origin of their language is the Chagatai language. They also claim Chagatai literature as theirs. Chagatai was the main literary language in Turkmenistan and also in Central Asia. Chagatai was one of the three khanates that embraced Islam. Mubarak Shah and Tarmashirin were one of the first officials that converted to Islam. Buddhism and Shamanism flourished until the 1350s. The Western part of the khanate converted to Islam very quickly. The Eastern part then slowly started to

convert as well.

The center of power was Almalik.

The Major Leaders in the Changatai Khanate are Chagatai Khan second son of Genghis Khan (central Asia, Chagatai Khan),Zunghar Khanate ( eurasion steppe/from great wall of China to eastern Khazakstan), Agtaghlyq (turkestestan), Tumurid Dynasty (timurid emurates), Kumul Khanate (Xinjang China) Turfan Khanate.
