This act was passed by Congress and it prohibited Chinese Immigration.

This was one of the most violent strikes in the US. It was against the Homestead Steel Works in retaliation against cut wages.

Jay Cooke´s firm went bankrupt and caused banks to close, stock markets to collapse, and left unemployment rates terribly high.

This killed hundreds of people and destroyed almost all of downtown Chicago, Illinois

Haymarket Riot

1886

The site of two conflicts between the Sioux Indians and the US government. The Sioux left the reservation in protest because of the death of Sitting Bull. The US Army killed 150 Sioux Indians at Wounded Knee.

This took place in Chicago, IL between rioters and police. It was a direct result of the extreme tensions between laborers and the wealthy business owners. It ended when someone threw a bomb and killed dozens of people.

Battle of Little Bighorn 1876

June 25, 1876 gold was discovered in the Black Hills Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Whites invaded the Indians' land and drove them to war. George A. Custer and all of his men were killed by the Sioux Indians.
