Colonization
- There were 3 main sections: Old World Web, the American Web, and the Pacific Web.
- In three and a half centuries, people across the globe formed a single community through globalization.
- 1450-1750 is the New "Early Modern" Era.
- Christopher Columbus 1492: Americas
- Vasco de Gama 1497-98: Africa
- Colonization brought disease that natives did not build up pathogens too.
- Crops and animals bounced around.
- Military revolution put strains on rulers and societies, but in contrast the rulers wanted wealth from exploring new lands.
Power Shift
Conclusion:
- Globalization caused webs to fuse shrinking the world by bringing it together.
- The web may be improved, but people only moved a little faster.
- All continents were in contact
- Start of bad human effects on the environment: soil degrading and cleared forests.
- The balance of power shifted, Western Europe became the most dynamic power, mostly because of the growth in commerce.
- Land-based and maritime trading were the two types used.
- Russian empire expanded across Eurasia.
- Western European regional kings attempted to expand Europe by using overseas colonies.

- International trade routes spread goods, ideas, and spread religion.
- Gunpowder, silver, and slaves were in high demand.
- Slave trade effect was uneven because of the high demand. African slavers felt no connection to slaves because no common identity was shared.
- Slaves came from conquered civilizations as well.
