Missing this prayer is a Grave matter!

Salatul Jumu'ah is an obligation.

Allah revealed in Surat-ul Jumu'ah that Muslims should not pursue worldly matters when Salat-ul Jumu'ah is happening.

It is obligatory and rewardable.

One can excuse himself for valid reasons such as sickness.

One time, the Prophet was delivering the Khutbah.

The muslims sat silently while listening.

Then suddenly, a caravan loudly came and it's vendor started beating his drum and singing, calling people to buy beautiful products and ornaments.

Many of the muslims got up and left the Prophet as he was speaking. They hurried towards the caravan to buy.

Only 12 muslims stayed to listen, including Abuu Bakr and Umar.

Prophet Muhammad was saddened to the Sahabah's preference for wealth and trade over Salat-ul Jumu'ah.

Let us learn a story from the life of the Prophet.

The prophet has said: " I would ask a man to lead the people in prayer so that I may burn the houses of those men who did not attend the Friday Prayer with us"

"Either they stop neglecting the Friday prayers or Allah will set a seal on their hearts so they cannot find the right path again"

"Whoever does not attend three Friday Prayer,(without valid excuse) Allah will set a seal on his heart.

Surat Al-Jumu'ah

O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu'ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew.

And when the prayer has been concluded, disperse within the land and seek from the bounty of Allah , and remember Allah often that you may succeed.

But when they saw a transaction or a diversion, [O Muhammad], they rushed to it and left you standing. Say, "What is with Allah is better than diversion and than a transaction, and Allah is the best of providers."

Jumu'ah means "the gathering".

It is sometimes called as Eid-ul-Muslimeen or the Holiday of Muslims.

The Friday Prayer starts with the Khutbah.

or the sermon.

There is so much blessings in this day.

Muslims perform Salat-ul Jumu'ah on this day.

Salatul Jumu'ah is a prayer in which Muslims pray together in group as one united community in Friday.

The Khutbah is normally given by a knowledgeable, righteous muslim.

This muslim is called Khateeb.

It takes the place of Dhuhr Prayer.

Instead of four rak'aat, it takes two rak'aat to perform.

Conditions for it to begin:

  • time for prayer starts
  • call for prayer is done

The Khutbah teaches us important lessons about Islam.

We are not allowed to talk because this is still a part of the prayer.

The person who attends Salat-ul Jumu'ah will be forgiven of his minor sins since his last Jumu'ah.
