  • Monopoly was considered to be a very ironic game because it's a game that deals with money and it was created during the Great Depression (1930s).
  • The invention of the chocolate chip cookie was an accident.
  • The first electric guitar, invented in 1931, was called a "frying pan" because its shape resembled a frying pan.
  • By the late 1930s four out of five households had an FM radio.
  • In the 1930s one crazy invention they had was the baby cage, which was a cage that hung out the window for the baby to be held in to save room in the apartment or house.

  • 1933: Frequency modulation, or the FM radio is invented by Edwin Howard Armstrong.
  • 1934: The game of Monopoly is claimed to be invented by Charles Darrow.
  • 1934: Percy Shaw invents cat eyes (road reflectors).
  • 1935: Wallace Carothers and DuPont Labs invents nylon, a type of fabric.
  • 1936: Colt revolver gets patented by Samuel Colt.
  • 1937: Chester F. Carlson invents the photocopier.
  • 1938: Nescafe (freeze-dried coffee) is invented.

The Industrial Thirties

The 1930s was also known as the Industrial Thirties because it marked a time of new inventions and technologies being produced.
