Mood
The Empire
The Empire is the enemy of the Allies of the Icemark, as it is a invading force that abhors all things non science, such as talking leopards, vampires, witches and werewolves (all of Thirrin's allies) and are obligated to destroy them. Their main general is Scipio Bellorum, and he challenges Thirrin to a duel later in the book and gets his hand chopped off, along with his prize rapier. His pride, his troops and his physical form are all wounded. Thirrin, with the help of her allies, drive back the Polypontan armies and mark the first loss of a war the Empire has ever had.
The mood of my novel, The Cry of the Icemark, is suspenseful. The chapters all flow into each other and every scene leaves you hold your breath. From the death of Redrought to the tardiness of the Allies and almost losing the war, the near death of Oskan and the audience with Tharaman Thar all compile to make an extremely fast paced, touching and suspenseful novel.

The Allies
The characters of my novel are Queen Thirrin, ruler of the Icemark who had the throne thrown on her because her father, King Redrought Strong-in-the-arm Lindenshield died in battle repelling the Polypontan army. Her adviser is Oskan the Warlock, whom she found in the woods when one of her soldiers fell off his horse and sliced his arm. Before Redrought left for battle, he appointed Oskan as Thirrin's adviser. Oskan proved invaluable to Thirrin as she searched for allies. The first ally she acquired were the Holypontan, a province of the Icemark. They then traveled to the North, and The Land of the Ghosts, with King Grishmak at their side. He, in turn, helped Thirrin sign a treaty with the Vampire King and Queen. At Grishmak's advice, Thirrin travels further North to the Hub of the World and becomes Allies with Tharaman Thar. They unite to fight the evil empire of the Polypontan.
Theme
The Vampire Queen of the Land of the Ghosts
The theme of my novel is courage. I believe this because of the general way that the events played out. Thirrin's father, Redrought is killed in battle and Thirrin is forced to rule a kingdom at war at the young age of thirteen. She has to find allies, marshal troops, traverse thousands of miles, face almost certain death, fight, become a diplomat, and balance her growing emotions for Oskan. She has to seem invincible in battle, yet still mourns her father's death. She grows as a result of this, and becomes a wise ruler.
Climax
Elemnestra, Basilea of the Holypontan
The climax of my novel is when Thirrin's allies show up and turn the tide of battle. The Holly and Oak kings, The werewolf forces, The Vampire King and Queen and their advisers, the Werewolf forces and the Snow leapords, the Holypontan and the housecarls all made one final charge when the moon was full and drove the Polypontans into a full retreat. Because of the appearance of the Empire's stuff of nightmares, this broke the last thread of morale the soldiers had and allowed for a smashing victory on the part of the Allied forces of the Icemark.
Setting
The Vampire King of the Land of the Ghosts
The main setting of my novel, The Cry of the Icemark, is in the capitol city of Frostmarris and its surrounding land. The land surrounding Frostmarris has been trenched out and defensive earthworks have been laid. They stretch around three quarters of the city and fade into the woods, the domain of the Holly and Oak kings, Thirrin's allies in the war. The city of Frostmarris itself is a fortified castle with stone battlements at least twenty feet high. The city is within the wall of Frostmarris, and almost the entire city is made of stone. Frostmarris is defended by rockapults, flaming arrows, and an army of sixty thousand soldiers of the fyrd, holypontan infantry and archers, werewolves, vampires and other nightcreatures, and Tharaman Thar's personal army of three thousand snow leopards.
