Toronto East General Hospitals Positive Deviance Project

Positive Deviance is based on the observation that in every community there are certain individuals or groups whose uncommon behaviors and strategies enable them to find better solutions to problems than their peers, while having access to the same resources and facing similar or worse challenges.

The Positive Deviance approach is an asset-based, problem-solving, and community-driven approach that enables the community to discover these successful behaviors and strategies and develop a plan of action to promote their adoption by all concerned.

Sustainable change
Transforming our culture
Developing new behaviours so that they become habits
P.D is about you & me.
It's about inviting those on
the front line (the "GURUS") to discover and adopt
their own solutions to the challenges.

We're Coming To You, We Want Your Ideas
We want those who are interested to come forward
to discover and uncover better ways of doing what we do
best. To lead TEGH on our Road To Zero.
Nothing about you without you
Our challenge is getting every single member of a hospital community—physicians, nurses, aides, technicians, housekeepers, patients, families and volunteers—to follow all infection control practices all the time on our road to zero hospital acquired infections
