Web 2.0 Tools
Definition: The use of World Wide Web technology and web design that aims to facilitate creativity, information sharing, and, most notably, collaboration.
VoiceThread
Voicethread is like an interactive slideshow that allows you to upload photos and then record yours and your students’ voices. Other students can then add their voice in response to others’ postings.

ScribbleMaps
A mash-up with Google Maps, ScribbleMaps gives you the ability to draw on, label, add markers, title and add a general description to a map. No registration required and you can save maps as jpegs, print, email, embed, and a variety of other options.

SketchCast
SketchCast allows you to record a sketch as you create it and then either embed the sketch in your blog, or direct users to your channel to watch. You can narrate, or sketch without voice.

BabelWithMe
No registration, you just enter your nickname and it creates a private chatroom. You can then send the url to anyone you want to chat with and start chatting. The really cool thing about this site is that it translates what you say into any language the other user chooses.

ProProfs
Easy registration, create flash cards, brain games, polls, quizzes, forums and more.

Wall Wisher
Very minimal registration, create a “wall” where you can place virtual sticky-notes. You can allow others to also place notes on the board, or keep it so that only you can do so.

EtherPad
EtherPad is the only web-based word processor that allows people to work together in really real-time.
Wordle
Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends.
Examples
Following are 9 examples of great Web 2.0 tools to use in the classroom.
