Transcript of Creedence Clearwater Revival: Behind the music

Creedence Clearwater Revival or CCR was a classic rock group during the late 60's and early 70's. They were one of the few well-know classic rock groups of the time due to the "British Invasion" The band consisted of John Fogerty-lead guitar and vocals, Tom Fogerty-rythym guitar, Doug Clifford-Drums and Stu Cook on bass. John Fogert was the backbone of the group with his voice and his song writing abilities. When he was 12 years old his mom took out a loan and he bought his first guitar which was a sears silvertone. John and his brother Tom, started a band in their teens and then added Doug and Stu who they met at their local high school. John and Tom came from a poor family so their parents didn't have a problem with them starting a band but Stu who came from a succesful family and his father, who wanted him to become a loyer had a problem with it and he disowned him. The Band started by practicing in a warehouse and this is where they composed most of their hit songs such as: proud mary, down on the corner and many others. After playing in gigs around the country such as woodstock the band went on their british tour where they bacame well-known there as well. In the mid to early 70's John told the band members that they had to start writing songs themselves because he was getting fed up that he was the one that did all the work and not getting as much credit as he would have liked. Stu Cook was really the only person who wrote and sang a song called "Door to Door." Ending of the band Once Tom Fogerty died the mid 70's the band broke up due to disagreement among the band members and Johns controlling behavior. Post CCR Doug and Stu left the band and went to create Creedence Clearwater Revisted and John went to work on his solo career. The Band had many hits such as: Bad Moon Rising, Born on the Bayou, Down on the corner, Green rivefr, Have you ever seen the Rain, Travelin Band, up around the bend, Lookin out my back door and their well know Anti-Vietnam song Fortunate Son.
