How to identify people you really want to know at netwworking events »
Alan Hill

Are you struggling with
'networking'?
Maybe you don't know where to go...
Or what to say...
Or how to introduce yourself?
Birds of a feather,
flock together
and 'like attracts like'
find out where Hiring Managers are
Then go there and be like them
to be 'liked' by them
It's simple really. But...
...you can't be 'flocking around' with job seekers
So don't go where the job seekers are,
So don't go where the job seekers are,
and don't be like a job seeker.
Here's where different leaders go, and why
Because of power - leader power
They go where they can have
the most influence,
On causes they care about most
People who seek to be:
...so they talk about themselves.
Ask questions about them.
They will love you for it.
People who seek to be:
...so they talk about management.
Ask them their opinion on policies, procedures, etc.
You can find them at:
You can find them at:
You can find them at:
You can find them at:
They are:
...so they talk about strategies.
Ask them about strategies and struggles, and leading others.
People who seek to be:
People who seek:
...so they talk about legacy
and purpose.
Ask them about strategies and vision, the future and giving back.
...so they talk about ideals and principles
Ask them why.
(nobody ever asks why)
What next?
Find events, activities and venues...
... that attract the type of people you want to meet.
and ask questions about what interests them.
